The San Diego Mill, established in 1888, is Costa Rica's most modern coffee processing facility. For over a century, this innovative mill has strived for ever-increasing efficiency and quality. Today, San Diego specializes in coffees from the esteemed Tarrazú and Tres Ríos growing regions. The mill takes great pride in its sustainable practices and positive community relationships with growers. This particular micro-lot was cultivated by smallholder farmers in Tarrazú. The growers delivered ripe, red cherries to San Diego's main mill and satellite stations. The cherries were then dried naturally with the fruit intact, turned regularly for even drying. After hulling, the San Diego quality control team cupped the lots and sorted them into this bold, fruit-forward offering.

Costa Rica's coffees command premium prices due to the country's reputation for both high quality and innovation - a winning combination that allows the nation to deliver exceptional coffee. Costa Rica's strong socio-economic infrastructure, including universal healthcare, high education levels, advanced agronomy research, and well-regulated agricultural sustainability programs, also contribute to the high value of its coffee by enabling superb growing conditions. Additionally, when importers purchase Costa Rican green coffee, producers receive nearly 80% of the FOB price, a guaranteed high return.

This is a rich and complex fruity coffee that is our personal favorite.
